This is also a fun way to display a button collection too.  Need a button in a pinch?  Just snip one off!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Embroidery hoop (any size works, I used a 6 inch hoop)
  • Scrap piece of fabric (slightly larger than the hoop)
  • Embroidery floss
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle (I used the same kind you would use for cross stitching)
  • Buttons!  Any size, shape, and color works great!

Here’s how to make it!

  • Pull the inner ring out of the embroidery hoop.
  • Stretch fabric across the inner ring nice and taut and place the outer ring over it and tighten the screw at the top.
  • Trim any excess from the edges.
  • Trim a piece of embroidery floss several inches long.
  • Using the tapestry needle, sew a button to the fabric and tie a tight, strong knot to the back.
  • Repeat until the front is covered in buttons, any design you like.
  • Trim or glue fabric edges so they are neatly hidden.
  • Your art is now ready to hang!

Happy crafting!
