Here’s what you’ll need:

  • For
each egg, several yards of #6/super bulky yarn.  For extra squish, I
used a chenille style yarn in that weight.  Yarn shown in the eggs in
the pictures is Honey Bunny by Hobbii in Candy Floss and Lilac colorways.
  • US 10 6.0 mm straight knitting needles
  • Ribbon (I used narrow matching satin ribbon)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Sizing:

  • 3.5 inches tall
  • 2.5 inches wide
  • 6.5 inch circumference

Here’s how to make it!

  1. Begin with the hat part,
  2. Cast on 3 stitches.
  3. Row 1: Knit all stitches.
  4. Row 2: Purl all stitches.
  5. Row 3: KFB (knit into the front and back of the stitch) in each stitch across.
  6. Row 4: Purl all stitches.
  7. Row 5:  KFB in each stitch across.
  8. Row 6: Purl all stitches.
  9. Row 7: KFB in each stitch across.
  10. Row 8: Purl all stitches.
  11. Bind off all stitches, leaving a tail for seaming.
  12. Seam up the hat using the whip stitch, then weave in any ends that remain.
  13. Let’s make some ears next (you’ll make two),
  14.  Cast on 3 stitches.
  15. Row 1: Knit all stitches.
  16. Row 2: Purl all stitches.
  17. Row 3: Knit one stitch, then KFB the next stitch, then knit the last stitch.
  18.  Purl all stitches.
  19. Bind off all stitches, leaving a tail to sew the ear on later.
  20. Make the second ear.
  21. Sew both ears onto the hat.
  22. Weave in any ends that remain.
  23. If you want, you can also glue a bow to the base on one ear.
